Most floodlights are cheap, poorly made units and offer between 1 and 3 years' warranty. The use of such floodlights for commercial or industrial purposes is not advised due to:

• Longer on times - in a commercial environment floods are likely to be on all night, as opposed to perhaps 15 minutes per night in home use
• Health & Safety - correct lighting levels are required for Health & Safety compliant operation
• False economy - the failure of a floodlight in a commercial setting would not only result in having to pay for a replacement unit, and an electrician to fit it, but it may also require the cost of having to provide access equipment, and operations may even have yo be halted to allow for installation of the new unit
